Transforming John Street

The City of Ipswich proudly supports the Transforming John Street Project and invites you to be part of it.

Rosewood’s main street, John Street, is well-loved by the local community, has celebrated historical character and holds the potential to become regionally recognised.

The heart of Rosewood is preparing for a transformation and we are seeking your ideas, stories and suggestions to help shape the future of our township. Your input and support is crucial for the plan’s success and you can help by providing:

  • Stories about you, your family or important historical events relating to John Street
  • Input as to what you like about John Street
  • Thoughts on what needs improvement on John Street
  • Specific ideas or issues relating to flooding, transport, parking and tourism
  • Ideas for improvement and beautification.

Visit the interactive Transforming John Street Project website at to have your say by providing comment, photos, links and ideas. These could be temporary, permanent, activities, events or celebratory ideas. All input is used to create the draft John Street Transformation Plan and subsequent recommendations and actions.

The display commenced at our 26 John Street shopfront on Thursday, 30 March and includes:

  • Feedback from consultations with key stakeholders on progress to date
  • Analysis of issues that shape how John Street works and the opportunities this provides
  • Draft plans and various options to consider.

To learn more about the findings and the draft plan, view/download the current Draft John Street Transformation Plan (PDF, 5.2 MB)

If you would like to make comments on the draft plans or express interest in the project coordination group, please email or phone (07) 3810 6666.

Alternatively, print, complete and email to the above address the Transforming John Street Project Input Form (PDF, 511.1 KB)

We look forward to your input and to working closely with the community to transform John Street and keep the heart of Rosewood beating strong for generations to come.
