Ipswich Nature Centre upgrade

During 2026 there will be construction works to improve the facility and experience for visitors, animals and staff.

*Construction timeframes are weather-dependent.

March - December 2026

The current staff-only back-of-house facilities will be demolished. New facilities will be constructed to improve animal care, biosecurity and staff area. A small part of the trail loop near the current staff-only area will be closed.

April - June 2026

The northern half of the boardwalk will be demolished. A new boardwalk will be installed to meet modern standards. Some animal enclosures will also have refurbishments during the closure. The northern half of the centre will be closed and access to the southern half of the centre will be via a side gate on Goleby Avenue.

Boardwalk works are being scheduled to begin following the April (Easter) school holidays and aim to be completed before the June-July (Winter) school holidays to reduce impacts on visitors.
