Partner With Active and Healthy Ipswich
The Active and Healthy Partnership program supports local physical activity providers to deliver low‑cost, inclusive and beginner‑friendly weekly activity sessions for the Ipswich community. The program is designed to improve health and wellbeing while helping local providers build sustainable participation.
Council currently delivers 50 free activities each week and is expanding this offering by partnering with local facilitators to provide even more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get active.
What the Partnership Offers
Successful providers receive a $50 council contribution per session to facilitate a one‑hour weekly class for up to 40 weeks per year. Sessions may be free or low‑cost, with participant fees capped at $5 per person, paid directly to the provider and kept in addition to the council contribution.
Each provider may apply for one or two sessions per week. Partnerships will run initially for six months, with the opportunity to extend for up to 12 months based on community participation. The long‑term goal is to support providers to become self‑sustaining after the funding period.
Promotion and Support
Council helps promote partnered classes through:
- Council website and social media
- Active and Healthy program calendars
- Direct promotion to past and current program participants
- An instructor shirt and pop‑up banner to support local visibility
Council also assists with venues by covering permits for park‑based activities and facilitating access to council‑owned indoor spaces where available. Providers may also use their session funding to offset indoor private venue hire if needed.

The partnership is open to local physical activity providers offering programs that are:
- Delivered weekly (not one‑off events)
- Low to medium intensity and suitable for beginners
- Safe, professional and community‑focused
