Nominate your hero for 2023 Australia Day Awards

10 October 2022

Time is running out to nominate a local hero to be honoured in Ipswich City Council’s 2023 Ipswich Australia Day Awards.

Community, Culture, Sports and Arts Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said with nominations closing 4 November now is the time to recognise those who make our city a better place to live.

“Our city is known for its community spirit and the Ipswich Australia Day Awards are a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution of our local legends,” Cr Fechner said.

“The past year has been tough for Ipswich with the floods and the continuing COVID-19 pandemic putting us to the test.

“However, these struggles have shown us again that great communities like ours are sustained and supported by those who go above and beyond for their fellow residents.

“These unsung heroes are active across our city every day, selflessly doing their best to make Ipswich a better place to live.

“Through the Ipswich Australia Day Awards, we are looking to thank them with a pat on the back and if you know someone who fits the bill, let us know.”
