Christmas lights competition opens in Ipswich

15 November 2023

It’s time to decorate your house, yard or business for the annual City of Ipswich Christmas Lights Competition presented by Nine News Queensland and Ipswich City Council.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said entries are now open for the competition which always attracts amazing displays ready to brighten the streets of Ipswich.

“Ipswich is a family-friendly city and many of our residents and business owners create wonderful uplifting displays delighting children and adults alike,” Mayor Harding said.

“The variety of entrant displays is always impressive, with decorations ranging from inflatable snow globes, to solar powered decorations, to lights synchronized to music and everything in between.

“Entries for the Christmas Lights Competition have opened and will close Monday 27 November, with winners announced on Friday 8 December.

“I’ll certainly be heading to view the many wonderful light displays across the city, just like I know many families across Ipswich do as part of their Christmas traditions.”

There are five competition categories this year:

  • Best Residential presented by STRUD
  • Best Business/Organisation presented by River 94.9
  • Best Street presented by Event Cinemas Springfield
  • People’s Choice presented by Choices Flooring by Mallets, Ipswich
