The historic jacarandas are in bloom and excitement is in the spring air!

After a three-year hiatus, the much-loved Club Parkview Jacaranda Festival is back this weekend.

Goodna Community Association is set to roll out the purple carpet once again for non-stop entertainment over the final weekend in October.

The Goodna Jacaranda Festival applied for and received the maximum $5,000 (plus GST) available through Ipswich City Council’s Community Event Funding.

Division 2 Councillor Paul Tully said he was delighted to see the festival return and anticipation had been building in the community for months.

“Goodna comes alive for this cherished celebration with thousands of festivalgoers enjoying a full program of live music and entertainment, delicious food, side show alley, and fireworks,” Cr Tully said.

Division 2 Councillor Nicole Jonic said council had planted 100 new jacaranda trees in Goodna since the last festival in 2019, ensuring purple continued to blanket the community each spring.

“The decades-old festival attracts visitors from near and far and is a firm favourite in the South East Queensland calendar,” Cr Jonic said.

Jacaranda Festival President Mathew Taylor said final preparation was in full swing and organisers were determined to put on their best event yet.

“We are excited to bring this iconic festival back to the community and are counting down to opening the gates this Friday,” Mr Taylor said.

The festival’s program is jam-packed and on Friday includes the Jacaranda Community Festival, opening Ceremony, fireworks and party under the stars; Saturday features a talent quest and rock and pop festival; Sunday finishes with music on stage and the Jacaranda dance spectacular.

Goodna Jacaranda Festival is on from Friday 27 October to Sunday 29 October at Evan Marginson Park, Woogaroo St, Goodna (opposite Club Parkview).
