Ipswich aglow with festive cheer as best Christmas lights awarded

11 December 2023

Ipswich is once again aglow with festive cheer as the winners of this year's highly anticipated Christmas Lights Competition, presented by Nine News Queensland, are announced.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said residents and visitors alike would be treated to a dazzling display of creativity and holiday spirit, turning the city into a Christmas wonderland.

“Congratulations to all entrants and this year’s winners – your displays showcase the immense talent and dedication of Ipswich's residents in spreading joy and warmth through the art of holiday decorating,” Mayor Harding said.

“I know our judging panel had a difficult task selecting the best displays, as each had their unique flair.

“You’ve truly outdone yourselves and the creativity, passion, and sense of community displayed through these breathtaking creations embody the true spirit of Christmas."

Community, Culture, Arts and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said 88 businesses, homes and streets entered the competition this year.

“The Christmas Lights Competition has become a beloved tradition in our city, and this year's entrants have perfectly captured the magic of the season,” Cr Fechner said.

“In the spirit of unity and celebration, we’d encourage residents to take a festive stroll or drive to the neighborhoods to enjoy the enchanting displays and remember that, even in challenging times, the community can come together to create moments of joy and connection.”
