Ipswich joins The Push to get more youth into Australian music industry

Young people looking to get into the music industry will be able to gain valuable insights at The Push Music Careers Expo this 28 August at the Ipswich Civic Centre.
The free, one-day event will feature keynote presentations, workshops and focussed interactions, giving attendees the opportunity to meet one-on-one with industry practitioners and education providers offering tailored advice.
Community, Culture, Arts and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said this was a fantastic opportunity for young people from Ipswich and South East Queensland.
“Ipswich was selected as the Queensland location for The Push Music Careers Expo alongside locations in Victoria and South Australia,” Cr Fechner said.
“Council is proud to support our young people in developing their passion for Australian music and helping them pursue a career in the industry.
“This expo is open to people interested in all facets of the music industry, not only musicians but those interested in music agency, producing, recording, tour coordination, technical production, publicists, graphic design and live music venue management.
“We are especially encouraging teachers and guidance officers to take advantage of this opportunity and bring along their interested students to learn about the different career pathways.”
The Push CEO Kate Duncan said it was exciting to connect with new communities of young people in Ipswich for the Music Careers Expo.
“With such a high youth population, accompanied by Ipswich City Council’s ongoing commitment to young people, we are proud to be partnering with council to deliver the Music Careers Expo and help expand young people’s understanding of the various pathways that exist in Australian music,” Ms Duncan said.
The Push program alumni include artists such as Courtney Barnett, Alex Lahey, Alice Ivy and Angie McMahon.
