Workshops to help funds flow to Ipswich community organisations

17 February 2023

A series of free grant writing workshops is set to help Ipswich not-for-profit community groups access more sources of funding.

Community, Culture, Arts and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said the workshops were about helping Ipswich community groups thrive.

“Groups and clubs are part of the social fabric of our community, providing wonderful opportunities for social connection, fun and friendship,” Cr Fechner said.

“However, sourcing funding to help keep a club or group running can be an uphill struggle, and these workshops are about making it easier for local groups to access much-needed financial assistance from all levels of government.

“The facilitator for these workshops is Gigi Lacey, who has extensive experience and expertise with grant writing processes over the past 20 years.

“Gigi has worked on a range of management committees and boards in the areas of advocacy, disability, mental health and multicultural organisations in direct service delivery and organisational support.

“We hope representatives from as many local community groups and clubs as possible can attend these capacity building workshops.”

Workshops will be held on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, 21 March, from 9am to 3pm at Event Space 2, Level 1, 1 Nicholas Street, Ipswich, in council administration building.
  • Thursday, 23 March, from 9am to 3pm at Springfield Central Community Centre, 134A Parkland Drive, Springfield Lakes.
  • Saturday, 25 March, from 9am to 3pm at the Lockyer Room, Ipswich Civic Centre, 50 Nicholas Street, Ipswich.

Registration is essential and can be completed online through Grant Writing Workshops.
