Expressions sought for something deLightful

St Paul's Church and 143 Brisbane Street will again be transformed into a visual spectacle for deLight over the 11 days of SPARK Ipswich from 4 to 14 July 2024.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the popularity of the deLight projection artworks reflected the burgeoning reputation of one of the city’s signature festivals.
“SPARK Ipswich has grown in recent years to be a must-see event, joining the likes of Planes, Trains & Autos, the Festival of Horsepower and Galvanized as showcase festivals in South East Queensland,” Mayor Harding said.
“The deLight works have proven extremely popular, with the profiled local artists highlighting Ipswich’s heritage architecture while reflecting the culture of the city, its people and places.
“Expressions of Interest for deLight in 2024 are now open and will close on 22 January.”
Community, Culture, Arts and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said artists would be selected according to three criteria.
“Our selection panel will consider the artist’s connection to the region, how the proposed works reflect the culture of Ipswich, its people and places and the suitability of work for projection, as determined by the projection artist,” Cr Fechner said.
“The plan is that 10 local artists will be featured on 143 Brisbane Street, while St Paul’s Church will present a selection of works of local First Nation artists.
“On the final night of the festival all artists’ works will be featured on each building as a combined work.”
