Meet-and-greet fans treat with Supercars drivers at Ipswich

28 July 2025

Ipswich motorsport fans will get to meet their Supercars heroes as they take it to the street – Nicholas Street to be precise – ahead of the Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440.

The Repco Supercars Championship will celebrate its return to Ipswich’s Queensland Raceway with a free community event in the heart of the city on 7 August.

All 26 Supercars drivers competing in the final round of the Repco Sprint Cup will be in attendance.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the Nicholas Street Precinct will be alive with the sight, sounds and smells of the Ford Mustangs and Chevrolet Camaros for the special lead-up event.

“Major events and Ipswich go hand-in-hand. It is absolutely wonderful to have Supercars return to the city, slotting in nicely to the city’s major events line-up following our Festival of Horsepower in June, SPARK Ipswich in July and just ahead of our heritage festival Galvanized in September,” Mayor Harding said.

“Ipswich City Council and Supercars are partnering to deliver a community event to celebrate the return of the Repco Supercars Championship to Willowbank, Ipswich from 8 to 10 August.

“On Thursday 7 August, Nicholas Street Precinct in Ipswich Central will play host to a special fan feast from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, giving locals the chance to get up close and personal with their favourites.

“Supercars drivers competing in the final round of the Repco Sprint Cup will be in attendance, including championship leader Broc Feeney and Will Brown, along with Australian Superbikes riders, who will also be on track across the weekend.”

Economic and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Pye Augustine said in addition to a free autograph session taking place from 5pm, fans will be able to photograph the supercars and superbikes up close, enjoy a local car club showcase, driver simulators, food vans, a super kids zone, live music and prize giveaways.

“It is fantastic council and the community can join together in this unique opportunity. We have not had Supercars on our doorstep since 2019 so it is an absolute treat to have the finest motorsports exponents here for this lead-up event then three days of action-packed racing,” Cr Augustine said.

“Supercars bring thousands of visitors to our city, from Queensland and interstate, and they stay right here, investing heavily in our local economy. It is the perfect opportunity to showcase what Ipswich has to offer motorsport fans and tourists in general.”

Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440 event manager Matt Gregg said tickets for the three days are available at website Supercars.com

“The free event promises fun for the whole family and is a unique opportunity for fans to meet their favourite drivers and riders before the action begins at Queensland Raceway,” Mr Gregg said.
