Large item kerbside collection paused to aid flood recovery

11 March 2022

Scheduled city-wide large item kerbside collection services will be paused to redirect resources to flood-affected areas to best support the city’s recovery.

Local Disaster Management Group Chair Mayor Teresa Harding said council is focusing on providing additional waste services in flood-impacted areas.

“Council’s free large item collection has been paused this week as all available resources are redirected to flood-impacted suburbs,” Mayor Harding said.

“Council has several trucks on a cycle through affected suburbs to allow multiple opportunities for collection as residents are able to empty out their homes and sheds.

“For those residents in suburbs that are not flood-impacted, please do not place household waste on the kerb until the city-wide large item kerbside collection service recommences.

“If you have put waste on the kerb in anticipation of the usual kerbside collection service, please take it back in until the service recommences in your suburb.”

Keep up-to-date with the revised large item kerbside collection service scheduled here.

Residents with flood-related waste should put it on the kerb for collection or take it to the Riverview or Rosewood refuse centres which are operating with free entry until 20 March.

Free skips are available to flood-affected businesses and community organisations. Call (07) 3810 6666 to register for this service.
