Riverview Recycling and Refuse Centre to open longer this summer

18 November 2022

Ipswich residents and businesses doing a summer tidy up will be able to get their trip to the tip out of the way even earlier when Riverview Recycling and Refuse Centre moves to extended operating hours from 1 December.

Growth, Infrastructure and Waste Committee Chair Mayor Teresa Harding said the centre will open at 7am, one hour earlier than usual, from 1 December 2022 to 28 February 2023.

“We know the summer months at Riverview Recycling and Refuse Centre are particularly busy as many residents take advantage of the holiday season to tidy up around the home,” Mayor Harding said.

“In an effort to assist the community, summer season operating hours will be in place from 1 December.

“Council’s recycling and refuse centres make it as easy as possible for residents to mange their waste, with a range of recycled materials able to be accepted, to reduce waste going to landfill.”

Growth, Infrastructure and Waste Committee Deputy Chairperson Councillor Paul Tully said the change was about providing responsive service delivery to the community.

“Council is actively working to ensure its waste services are fit for purpose for our ever-growing city, now and into the future,” Cr Tully said.

“This small but important change in opening hours for the summer months will make it easier for residents to access the recycling and refuse centre.”

The Riverview Recycling and Refuse Centre at 81 Riverview Road, Riverview will be open from 7am to 5pm seven days a week, excluding Christmas Day, from 1 December 2022 to 28 February 2023.

The Rosewood Recycling and Refuse Centre at 94 Oakleigh Colliery Road, Rosewood will continue its normal operating hours of 8am to 5pm seven days a week, excluding Christmas Day.
