IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR BIN COLLECTION

RETURN TO NORMAL SERVICES

  • Council would like to thank the residents of Ipswich for their patience and understanding throughout the past fortnight as the threat and impacts of Tropical Cyclone Alfred interrupted waste services.
  • Council has worked to provide catch-up bin collection services across Ipswich where possible since interruptions forced by the weather event.
  • All collection services will return to normal from Monday 17 March.

FREE DISPOSAL SERVICES

  • Free disposal of domestic volumes of waste is available at our Resource Recovery Centres in Riverview and Rosewood up to and including Sunday 16 March for residents impacted by TC Alfred and the associated flooding.
  • Storm debris, green waste and materials from weather-related property damage can also be disposed of for free at these sites up to and including Sunday 16 March.
  • Residents who require flood waste removal due to floodwaters entering their homes should contact council for assistance.

OVERWEIGHT BINS

  • Some residents have been advised of overweight bins where they exceed a weight of 70kg and are too heavy to be lifted.
  • If your bin has a red and white sticker on the lid informing that it is overweight, please reduce the weight of your bin and request recollection by calling council on 07 3810 6666. Further information about requesting recollection is included on the sticker.
  • Surplus material can be taken to Resource Recovery Centres at Riverview or Rosewood for free disposal up to and including Sunday 16 March, or reloaded into the bin once it has been collected.
  • Resource Recovery Centres are open from 7am to 5pm, seven days a week.

Ipswich Waste Services operates two Resource Recovery Centres for the disposal of general waste and a range of recyclable materials.

Hints and Tips for Loading Trailers

When you're packing your vehicle and/or trailer for a trip to your local waste facility, group similar materials together.

By taking a little extra time to sort your load before you leave home, you can save yourself plenty of time when you arrive at the Resource Recovery Centre. Consider which areas you will need to visit and load your vehicle/trailer accordingly. The last item in your vehicle/trailer will be the first to be unloaded.

Please see page two (2) of the Riverview Resource Recovery Centre brochure (PDF, 1.5 MB).

Domestic waste ute and trailer examples

Domestic waste fees will be based on a weight threshold listed in councils Fees and Charges Register.

Council understands it can be difficult to estimate weights when you go to the Recycling and Refuse Centre, so we provide the following guidance to assist customers with indicative weights of their loads, for example trailer sizes, to help understand any possible charges at the Recycling and Refuse Centre.

Please note that this information is a guide only and every load is different, any and all charges will be based on the weights as calculated by council at the Recycling and Refuse Centre.
