Community Development Grants support community organisations developing and delivering a one-off community initiative that addresses local needs and achieves community development outcomes.


  • Two funding rounds per year (February and July).
  • Applications open 1 February and close 28 February for the first funding round each year to be considered at council’s April meeting.
  • Applications open 1 July and close 31 July for the second funding round to be considered at council’s October meeting.

Funding Range

Maximum funding of up to $5,000 is available per initiative per funding round.


  • Applications for 2019 are now closed.
  • The next funding round opens on Saturday 1 February 2020.
  • Funding applications must be submitted via the online application form.

  • Springfield Lakes Nature Care Inc: $2,302.80 towards identifying birds of Springfield
  • Churches of Christ Care: $2,038.68 towards connecting with nature and building community
  • Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation Limited: $918.99 towards mental health early intervention for young people from Ipswich living in families affected by mental illness
  • Queensland Burundian Community Social Club: $2,500 towards employability training for Burundians living in Ipswich
  • STAR Community Services Ltd: $705.45 towards singalong to overcome social isolation in the elderly
  • Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre (BEMAC) Inc: $5,000 towards Get Prep'D For Song Writing
  • Rosewood and District Support Centre Inc: $2,874.16 towards establishment of community gardens and workshops
