The Young Performing Artists Bursary offers young Ipswich performing artists the opportunity to further develop their skills by providing financial assistance to attend workshops and/or be involved in performances and competitions outside of the region. Applicants must be residents of Ipswich and be under 25 years of age. The bursary aims to:

  • Support cultural diversity through excellence in performing arts in Ipswich, e.g. theatre, music, dance, voice and instrument for either individuals or groups.
  • Provide an avenue of recognition for local talent.


Applications are considered on an ongoing basis and must be submitted at least eight weeks before the proposed activity commences to allow sufficient time for the assessment process.

Funding Range

  • Applicants may apply once per year or to an annual maximum of $500 for individuals or $700 for groups.
  • While an application for a Young Performing Artists Bursary may be made at any time during the year, funding will only be available while such funds set aside in Council’s annual budget for this purpose remain unexpended.
