Under Council's Pensioner policy, pensioners may be eligible for a remission of up to a maximum of $235.00 per annum or $58.75 per quarter for general rates and $10.00 per annum or $2.50 per quarter for the Enviroplan Levy.

The amount of Part Council Remission shall be 100% of the Differential General Rate up to a maximum of $115.00 per annum (refer to Budget 2022-2023, Part 9.2). Plus $5.00 per annum Remission on the Enviroplan Levy Charge.

To be eligible you must live on the property and receive one of the following pensions paid at the maximum rate:

  • Age Pension
  • Carer Payment
  • Disability Support Pension
  • Parenting Payment Single
  • Widow Pension
  • Wife Pension
  • Service Pension
  • War Widow Pension with full income support supplement.

Ipswich City Council also administers the Queensland Government Subsidy Scheme for pensioners living within the Ipswich City area. A maximum subsidy of up to $200.00 per annum is available under this scheme. Any owner who lives on the property and holds a current Centrelink Queensland Pensioner Concession Card, Veterans' Affairs Pensioner Concession Card or Veterans' Affairs Gold Card may be eligible for this subsidy. Holders of Seniors Cards, Health Care Cards, Health Benefit Cards and Repatriation Health Cards for specific conditions do not qualify for State Government Subsidy.
