The conduct of Councillors and employees of Ipswich City Council is bound by standards that ensure they act in the best interests of the public and the communities they serve.

Councillor Code of Conduct

Council has resolved to implement a Code of Conduct for Councillors and this should be seen as a public affirmation by the elected members to act in the best interests of the communities they serve.  Its aim is to set a standard of ethical behaviour in public office and improve public confidence in elected officials.

Employee Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct for Employees seeks to set standards which the public has a right to expect are the minimum standards which should apply to all employees of Council. Accordingly, Council recognises that not only must the actions of employees be above reproach, they must also be seen to be above reproach. Such a situation leads to public confidence in the system of local government.
