Commencing in July 2020, Ipswich City Council will be embarking on a program of works to rekey all council owned assets. This includes all council assets such as parks (including bollard gates, BBQs, electrical switchboards etc.), clubhouses, community facilities, leased premises, depots, libraries and offices.

Why are we upgrading the master keying system?

The current system has been used at Council for at least the last 10 years. The system has been made end of life by the manufacturer and will no longer be supported or manufactured from December 2020. This is a standard in the industry as technology, hardware and manufacturing changes.

What you need to know:

  • The smart key is comprised of two operational sides - electrical and mechanical.
  • If the key flashes Green then you have been granted access, wait a moment then turn the key.
  • If the key flashes Red and beeps three times, then you are denied access.
  • Denied access means either your key is out of its validation period, the key has been deactivated, or you don’t have access to the cylinder you’re trying to access.
  • If the key does not flash but turns in the cylinder, then you are granted access – it a mechanical cylinder.
  • If your key flashes Green and you turn the key and it only turns a quarter turn, then it was turned in the wrong way. Take the key out and start again turning in the other direction.
  • Your key needs to be Validated every 30 days.
  • When Validating your key do not turn it in the device.
  • Each key has a unique number which is stamped on the side of the key.
  • Each cylinder has a unique number stamped on it; this helps identify where you are trying to access. If you have problems with a cylinder, please record the number.

If you encounter any key related issued inside of business hours please contact your council liaison, outside of business hours please contact ICC Customer Service on phone number 3810 6666 and they will be able to assist.
