Council are committed to rehabilitating our natural areas and waterways following the 2022 flood events. To date, all waste that is able to be removed manually has been removed totalling just over 5 tonne. Further investigations into the mechanical removal of remaining waste are currently underway and the viability of removal will be based upon the risks involved in further damaging the natural environment when attempting to access the foreign material.
Our environmental rehabilitation projects include bioretention basin works, repairs to stormwater quality offset infrastructure, historical mine site rehabilitation and track and trail rehabilitation works across a number of our natural areas.

Ipswich City Council respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners, the Jagera, Yuggera and Ugarapul people of the Yugara/Yagara Language Group, as custodians of the land and waters we share. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, as the keepers of the traditions, customs, cultures and stories of proud peoples.
